Medichecks for child

Hi all,

I hope you are as well as can be.

OK, so my ten year old daughter has both hashimotos and type 1 diabetes. She had an annual blood work form come through just before lockdown, as the schools were closing. With her diabetes and the unknown risk I chose not to take her for it. Her hair has started to drop out worse than it was when I requested the test and other signs. Would a medichecks blood test check the same (please don't judge, I'm just trying my best when nothing else is possible at the moment) if I were to make an account claiming she is 18? I know they are not the most pleasant having had them myself, but she's a kid that has at least 4 injections a day, and several not quite as harsh blood tests. What I'm wondering is, is it just the reference ranges that differ?

Please be kind with your response, I know its completely not the ideal, but as I say, I'm just trying my best.

Thanks as always

Rather than lie, have a look at what Blue Horizon offer, they will do tests for under 18s.

Perfect thank you. I didn't want to be a liar, but couldn't find any other way!

Thanks so much :)

Can your surgery nurse not do the blood draw for her? Surely in the circumstances they could arrange to have her in and out before other patients arrive. Or even take blood in car park?

Speak to your surgery regarding your daughter as I’m sure they can accommodate her. I had a blood test last week in the surgery after I had an appointment with the doctor (he organized it there and then )and if it’s anything like my surgery they were empty and extremely quiet. Never been known before.
