This paper interested me as it was observational rather than a formal trial. It shows that some people (would you believe it) get benefits form NDT despite the alleged contraindications. At least someone is looking at this albeit in a rather haphazard fashion. However note the obscure journal it was put in - not one of your top journals but one of the authors was McIninsh a disciiple of Bianco.

Thank you for finding this paper. I’m not keen on the tone of it though..still using Canaris, Wiersinga (Pilo), Jonklass, still making insinuating remarks that Iv interpreted as their belief NDT is somehow a fad or life-style choice.
Other diseases or conditions have multiple choice treatments, So why is it so astonishing to non-thyroid people that our need to have a choice, especially one that offers another but active drug (Liothyronine, in whatever guise) is very important.
Pilo has a lot to answer for! 14:1 - ! Grrr
Thank you Diogenes, even if my blood boils occasionally when Pilo, gets his nose in.
This statement, from their Conclusions, seems to assume that LT4 treatment is entirely predictable and has no potential for causing adverse effects. Otherwise it would be a nonsensical thing to say:
We also described the authentic account of a subgroup of patients who prefer DTE over LT4 for the treatment of hypothyroidism, despite its unpredictable response and potential adverse effects.
I was interested in the specifics of "risks associated with DTE", so I searched to find "risks associated" within the text again. Nothing. "Risks" alone, still found nothing. So this was just a CYA statement thrown out there that means ZIPPO?
