Very poorly from virus need advice as having to use hc cream instead of tablets as got gastritis. I just need to know where to put the cream on the body as I normally dose 4 times a day. Thank you. X

I think you said you are taking 30 milligrams of hydrocortisone a day?

You have not said what sort of cream you are intending to use so I have no idea if it is even feasible to get the same amount?

Even if it is, there might be big differences in effect between taking it orally as against topically.

It is also, as you know, very important not to suddenly stop taking steroids.

Also, I have no idea how steroid medicines and viral diseases affect each other.

And there can be several side effects from topical steroid creams.

You really do need the help of someone who really knows about these things. And you need to get that advise quickly. I suggest your GP or, failing that, NHS 111 despite them being busy.

Please get the best advice you can. Let us know how you get in, please.

Is it gastritis or diarrhoea which seems to last a couple of days with this virus at its worse. Are you eating and having enough fluids? I think I would worry about taking hydrocortisone if the virus is on your chest at all. Really need 111 but prepare for a long wait, you could phone your GP as this is a more specialist question. Good luck.

Not sure why you are on Hydrocortisone but you won't get any where near enough from cream to compensate for not taking it orally.
