Hi all, any recommendations on what to do for very dry eyes please. I use Thealoz Duo Gel at night but it makes my eyes sore if I use it in the day too.

Just seen a Sjogrens specialist who prescribed Hyabak 0.15% preservative free. I also have a room humidifier x

I have a damp flat for that. 🙃

Have you tried increasing vitamin D3?

It helped me, though I still use simple ointment & hypromyelose (?) drops when there’s low humidity.

Hey there Lesbud1

Just ensure whatever you use it is preservative free.

It might be too heavy a gel for you to use throughout the day as well as the night,

I tried so many different options and potions until I found what suited me best.

There maybe some build up on your tiny eye lashes and I found relief doing the following :-

Take a clean flannel, soak in hottish water, wring out, fold and make into an eye pad, and place this over your eyes. Lay down, relax, and gently press down and around your eye lashes and the heat and dampness might loosen any ' gunk ' at the lash base.

I did this about 3 times a day, for about 4 days, and found this worked for me.

I use xailin night at night and thealoze duo gel capsules first thing in the morning. They are both preservative free. I have preservative free eyedrops if I need them daytime. I use a hot flannel morning and night and massage my eyes then clean with Blephasol on 100% cotton wool pads. I was told you can use diluted baby shampoo. It's cheaper. The nice thing about xailin is that it helps the skin around my eyes which got sore with only thealoz duo.

The best thing I discovered when I had a bug over Christmas was an eyewash I got from Tesco. Think it is intended for contact lens wearers. You get an eye-bath with it.

Apart from that I have been using gunky VitA-pos at night and any of the preservative free ones - either HycoSan, Theolose Duo, Xialin, one called SnoTears that my rheumy recommended every time I saw him until eventually I felt I had to tryit and managed to get it online. It was great for a while.

I’ve got a thing called an eye bag that I heat in the microwave but I prefer the wet flannel that nana dale has told you about, . I like blephawipes but my favourite at the moment has to be the eyewash.

Hi, my favourite drops are HycoSan Extra. I take lutein & zeazanthin (Eye Complex 7 from Amazon) and black seed oil capsules- I’ve found both supplements helpful. Wearing sunglasses also helps, as does staying out of wind.

Hi , I use Hycosan plus from boots. Red packaging. I’ve had all sorts prescribed by the GP but have found this to be the best and you don’t have to use it within a month. Unlike most eye drops ,once opened you can use it for up to six months. £11.99 .
