Private doctors and medications

Thyroid UK has just been approached by a company called CloudRx who are a company that run a digital prescription system.

If you are self isolating and have a private doctor this company may be very useful for them as they make it easy for doctors to send medications out to their patients. This is what they told us:

"In the current situation we are looking to offer our online prescribing platform to private prescribers enabling us to deliver medication to those that vulnerable and self isolating.

It is very straightforward to register on our website which is a browser based system. All private prescribers can register on our website cloudrx.co.uk

CloudRx is a digital prescription system that allows all prescribers to create and send an electronic prescription to our pharmacy for delivery direct to your patient.

The company might have some utility. But it might be wise to note that it has only been in existence since 19 November 2019 so does not have a track record.

Also, I cannot see anything which explains how much it charges patients. The only information seems to be how patients can pay and that a prescriber can add a prescribing charge to the cost.

I've contacted them today and they have responded:

The prices are low in comparison to other providers and are passed on by the doctor and of course depends on the medication.

It's up to the doctors, really, to tell the patient.
