Tova or nothing

Hi to all

Just collected my prescription of T3 from Boots and for the last three years have managed to stay on Mercury pharma but, this morning due to Coronavirus??? They will not return the Teva to the warehouse to exchange. They say they are overwhelmed and too busy to chase it up?!

Also, love how the pharmacy just hand over the wrong brand without a mention of it until I ask. Then they know all about it and have tried blah blah blah.

I accepted this time probably setting a precedent.

How have people found Teva since their reappearance. Any issues?

Wishing good health x

I've been on Teva T3 from when it was first prescribed for me with no problems. More recently I was given Teva levo (25 mcg) - and while I tolerate it well enough I find it a bit "chalky". No such issues with the T3 - and I think most of the Teva issues are with the levo, so you may well be ok.

Hope so fuchsia-pink.

The last thing I need is a return to thyroid issues. Been on t3 for five years and have stuck to same brand in fear of change causing problems

Thanks for your quick reply x

I have no problems with Teva T3. I switch between it and Morningside depending on what the pharmacy can get.

The problems some folks had were with TEVA levothyroixine mostly so you should be fine.

Thanks for that. Good that you change between the two with no adverse effects. That’s reassuring

Thanks Lalatoot

I know it won’t helo with your latest prescription, but when I take my prescription in to Boots, I always remind them I need Mercury Pharma. I was thinking about my next one and thought I would stick a post it note to it as well as telling them.

Thanks Muffy.

I have a permanent note on my account. But the warehouse sends whatever is available/easiest/cheapest???

Usually the pharmacist returns it and waits for the correct brand but this guy wouldn’t.

I didn’t want s big argument in the store.. thanks for your reply. I may have to change chemists then I could use your idea.

Thanks x

Hi Muriel,

I cannot tolerate Teva thyroxine, I have Wockhardt, and Morningside Liothyronine. The best thing to do is ask your Doctor to put the brand name on the prescription, then there is no argument. It's cheaper for the NHS as you don't go back to the Doctor and ask for another prescription as another brand has made you ill! Especially in the case of Liothyronine, which is so expensive.

Not what you're looking for?
