Low grade flu feeling with extreme stress and Hashimotos

Hi, last week I felt very stressed - family problems plus coronavirus getting worse in the UK. Since last Wednesday I’ve been feeling under the weather, no temperature or other symptoms. The last time I felt like this my daughter was in hospital and I was very stressed. I’m now wondering if my Hashimotos thyroid has been unbalanced due to severe stress and if anyone else has low-grade flu like feelings when they become extremely stressed.

Stress affects our whole body more than we realise. It’s hard to switch off, though you still need to try to look after yourself as well as you can & stay as healthy as possible. Eat some extra fruit & good quality protein, & make sure you have good micronutrient levels. Do your best to stay warm & sleep well.

Hi Janspenc,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling under the weather and having to contend with family problems as well as the coronavirus looming over us. Without wanting to pry or intrude upon your privacy, I hope that family problems resolve quickly and your peace of mind restored.

I too have Hashis and have noticed on more than one occasion that I feel as if I've a higher temperature than normal (for me) and felt flu-ish or as if another cold is on the way. Sometimes this has occurred when being stressed. I've been drinking lots of chamomile tea in the evenings and writing down whatever thoughts cross my mind. Mostly random!

I'm not hypo but on levo for the hashimoto's so obviously can only speak to my own situation. Thanks to the great advice I've received from the many kind souls on this forum, I've been trying to sort my vitamin levels and have gone gluten free.

Sorry not to be able to offer any concrete advice, I'm sure others will be able to do so. Just wanted to say that yes, this is a 'thing' for me at least. You're not alone!

We're living in more stressful times than usual but I hope everything works out for you and your family.

Best wishes x
