Hi all my Endo wants me to get that gene test done, ive looked on line but it always has a charge for counselling too and i do not need that as my Endo has already counselled me. He said to get it down through thyroid uk, anyone know how this is done, do i have to visit a lab. do they send something out to me, how much should i be charged and can i send them a postal order or do i have to use a credit card.

All explained on ThyroidUK's web site here:

Went onto website, pressed the link and added the d102 in search bar are came back with 0 results. Dont know what i am doing wrong.
Did you click on the link I gave? You don't need to put anything into a search bar, that link takes you directly to the DIO2 (Deiodinase 2 Gene) Genetic Test page on ThyroidUK's website.
Yes i followed your link then it said click another link to order test from lab and then the only interactive part was a search bar. I did say on previous page once on labs website enter code d102 but i then came back with 0 results
I was entering d102, i should have entered di02, silly mistake but i have managed to locate order now. Thanks seasidesusie. x
OK, but for future reference it is 3 letters D I O and then the number 2 so DIO2
Don't confuse the letter O with zero 0. The letter O is round and fat, the zero is skinny.
Oh i think i did put in a zero for o but still recognised it, or perhaps im ordering something completely different, does the 2 stand for two variants.
Not sure where you were searching Angelic69. The Thyroid UK website doesn't have a search bar! thyroiduk.org
I have recently paid for test and my GP has agreed to give me results so I do not have to pay for counselling. I am sure your lovely endo will do the same. Can you pm me his name as I am looking for one who might be supportive should my test come back positive. Is this on the NHS you see him? You can pm by clicking on my name.
You can get the DIO genes reported in the DNA tested through Ancestry which have sales which make it much more affordable.
You can book it without the counselling - as you order them as separate items. I booked it with but it wasn't really necessary although I did find my chat with the counsellor useful. The test is easy - it comes by post and is a saliva test. It took about a week to receive it and another two weeks or so to get the result. I have the defective gene so have written to my CCG to request funding of T3 - again - they are already refused me twice!
