Perhaps read through very recent threads about this, which a search throws up here:

As far as catching Coronavirus we are all at risk because its a new virus which we havent encountered before so we dont have immunity built up.

How we react to it if we catch it does vary according to how old, how well we are and other conditons. The list of those secondary conditions deemed to be high risk didn't list hashimotis as likely to increase the severity of how you would respond to this virus. So on that basis I dont think you need to worry. Its more likely it will be mild but of course nothing is guaranteed.

Ensuring you are optimally but not over treated is your best safety net.

Hope this helps.

I think it is people who have lung disease or other underlying health problems that are at risk. Also the elderly seem to be more a risk as well. It hasn't stopped me from traveling about and I went to my pottery class this morning. I have however decided against going abroad for my holidays until it is under control. Watching the news I think China has now started to get control because one of their leaders was visiting the place where the outbreak started. I am following the guidelines and washing my hands a lot and trying not to touch my face etc. Walking around the supermarket there were no toilet rolls on the shelves which I think is ridiculous. I won't be panic buying in the near future.

I have doubled (from 1,000 to 2,000) my dosage of Vitamin C and am working toward optimizing my Vitamin D with Vitamin K2-MK7.

Are you taking magnesium? That's what the body needs to convert D3 into it's usable form. The K2, although another important cofact, it's main job is to direct the extra uptake of calcium to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues.

I have a small one clipped to my handbag to use on the go. My Dad has decided to isolate himself so I am going to pick some shopping up for him tomorrow and drop it on his doorstep and run. I think the government will now start cancelling football matches etc. and they will be advising the elderly to stay at home to avoid the virus.

I`m over 65, & can`t isolate myself because I have to go out to buy groceries and draw money out from the bank, so I guess I`m doomed.

I just want to comment about something I observed a couple of days ago. I was at the check out at my local supermarket when an elderly couple were chatting loudly to another customer. The lady said she had no intention of following the guidelines and actually said "What a load of rubbish I am not going to stop touching stuff or other people and as for using a sanitiser ... I don't see the point!" Her elderly husband agreed with her and laughed. I was tempted to tell them that they were the most at risk but decided against it. I am not being ageist about this but a lot of elderly people have a similar attitude. My Dad who has COPD has decided to isolate himself and his wife for a few weeks until the government decides the outbreak is under control because he knows this could actually kill him. This is very serious and I wish some people would realise this ... I know a lot are taking this too seriously but I am being careful because I was really ill with a chest infection not too long ago and don't want to be ill again.

There is no evidence that people with thyroid disease are affected more than other people just because they have thyroid disease.

We need to keep things a bit more in perspective and all this media hysteria is just fuelling people's concern and this is less than helpful.

The seasonal flu can kill between 2500 and 17000! people in a season alone, these are numbers just for the UK. Covid-19 has killed 4600 at present worldwide. Currently 456 covid-19 infections reported in the UK with 8 deaths.

People need to display a bit more common sense, not give into all this hysteria and focus on things that really matter. A study at some UK motorway services has revealed that 30% of women and 60% of men don't wash their hands after been to the toilet. Need I say more!

Everyone is at risk, its people with underlying conditions that need to be careful, someone with asthma and prone to pnuemonia would not be ideal to get.

I think what you wanted to say is that everyone can be affected but some groups are more at risk than others.

We are all at risk of contracting the virus and the best thing to do is take sensible precautions and stay away from large or unnecessary gatherings etc. I am staying home more but it is easier for me as I am retired. I am taking extra vitamins like D3 K1 C magnesium, zinc and copper keeping to the recommended dosage. Also I have started early getting into a routine of regularly cleaning surfaces and door handles with dettol wipes or diluted bleach solution. I also take them out and wipe down shopping trolley handles .At home or outside i clean my hands regularly.

It is more of a concern for us all who do have underlying health conditions but I think I have come to a place of acceptance, (I am in the older age bracket,) after going through a bit of a panic at first, I do have faith and that helps me to let go of my anxieties and have no fear come what may. I do hope you too can find a way to de-stress and relax because worry is an enemy to be avoided and it does not solve anything but makes life miserable. Just be pro active to get in what you will need then if you do need to self isolate you can do so without too much hardship and I don't mean going crazy clearing shelves, just enough to last a couple of weeks more than usual. I have stocked up on soup as I thought if I get ill I probably wont feel like cooking much but hot soup can be comforting and nutritious and even my husband can fix that for me if necessary. We are all in this together.

I just watched Boris giving a press conference and I am more worried than I was before. I won't be going out and about as much and will only be going out to shop for food until this virus is under control.
