Difference between mercury branded Levo and Eltroxin.

Thanks for the response on the best brand of Levo in UK. can anyone provide me the difference between mercury branded Levo and Eltroxin.

If you are talking about the Eltroxin on the ThyroidUK list I linked to for you, it's made by Mercury Pharma, the ingredients are identical for both, as you can see from the list. That is the one that can be obtained in the UK.

In your other thread Baobabs mentioned Eltroxin by Aspen Pharma Trading, Baobabs is not in the UK.

Absolutely SeasideSusie.

Mercury Pharma levothyroxine is identical to Mercury Pharma Eltroxin.

Aspen Eltroxin is different. (As are any other products around the world which might be branded Eltroxin but are not produced by Mercury Pharma.)

About 15-20 years ago Eltroxin was made by Goldshield and was a vastly superior product

Then Eltroxin was bought by Concordia and discontinued....replaced by Mercury Pharma.

The relatively recent relaunch of a box with “Eltroxin” name on the front and only Mercury Pharma inside, perhaps is trying to live on past glories

I am sure that there are many of us who remember how good the original Goldshield

Eltroxin was.Is there no chance for that original strength Eltroxin to be produced again ?

Just imagine how many patients it might help,who could well do without aggravation from their GPs who seem to have such scant knowledge about thyroid disease.
