Goodbye and good ridannce Levothyroxine

After much thought and consideration, have to go back to taking Thiroyd from Thailand as Levothyroxine has caused so much hair loss, ended up with a big bald patch, itchy scalp and body. Took me ages to figure out if it was the levothyroxine as currently menopausal, taking estrogel and utrosgen.

Thiroyd from Thailand is no longer produced, nor is TR. The only Thai NDT that you may find at the moment is Thyroid-S and that's getting more difficult to find and has increased considerably in price.

Oh bugger, thanks for letting me know. Any suggestions? Anyone out there who knows if any NDT is any better? Loved Armour before they messed about with it, can't go back on Levothyroxine, pure poison.

I know . I think you misunderstood ... you mentioned the name of your supplier. You never do that on open forum.

Hi spacenk

I totally agree with you on levoroxine being poison.. Ok some people can take it with no problems like my friend she's hypo and has been taking 100mg levo for 7 years with no problems she works has a family she has no other health problems.. I on the other hand I do have colitis and can't take aspirin, anti inflammatory drugs, the pill, HRT I can't stomach antibiotics and was seriously ill when taking the anti thiyroid meds.. I now have no thiyroid as it was very toxic it nearly killed me because my gp could not diagnose me until I was in full blown hyper overactive thyroid illnesses I'm having real trouble with levo it's just not working for me it's taken since May last year for my gp and endo to agree and hopefully I'm going to get some T 3 to try but I've been so ill since May its not right that doctors and endos think one tablet fits all it don't.. 😠

I swapped from NDT to Metavive & have been pleased with this. It’s sold in the UK as a glandular supplement rather than a pharmaceutical.

I have been interested in trying this as I only ever did well on porcine NDT and did quite well on Naturethroid before it was reformulated. The last NDT I was on that actually helped was Thiroyd by Greater Pharma. I tried bovine NDT without success.

Has it really made a considerable positive difference? How many capsules of Metavive I or II did you have to take to match 1 grain of Naturethroid?

I liked both RLCs NDTs but didn’t get on with bovine ThyroGold. I don’t know if it was the bovine thyroid or forskolii but the itching & burning was unbearable. I wish I’d known Metavive was ok when RLC stopped producing as I don’t do well on T3 only in winter. There’s no published hormone content for Metavive. I’m currently taking 4 Metavive ii & have dropped down to 1/4 of a T3 which is 6-7g though I may take less or more of that.

i had to go back on levo as i can no longer obtain thiroyd from thailand. fortunately, the endo has added t3 in with it but after four weeks in, i am as well as i am on thiroyd

I also dumped Levothyroxine for Thiroyd so am in the same boat as you. Greater Pharma started messing around with Thiroyd (see my previous post re batch numbers). I didn't realised it has been totally stopped. Is this due to swine flu/pig shortage? Please let me know if you find a decent substitute - good luck!
