My daughter suffers from fibro. She has had numerous stomach infections and has ended up in hospital in agony and not being able to keep painkillers down. Following these outbreaks, when she is on antibiotics, she has hardly any fibro pain! Can anyone explain why or does this happen to anyone else? I’m wondering if she has leaky gut!!!

Antibiotics and fibromyalgia
Hi lindsie has she been tested for HPylori the stomach bacteria? It’s very common and is easily tested by a stool sample or a breath test.once you have HPylori it stays in your blood so a blood test would only show yes you have in your blood but not if it’s active or not.
The treatment for HPylori is two different antibiotics and a PPI over a minimum two week period, called triple therapy, this could be why she’s better when on antibiotics so I would ask your gp or hospital to be tested immediately to rule this out so she can be treated urgently.it has really debilitating effects on you and may not be fibromyalgia either it could be the HPylori bacteria it wouldn’t surprise me.good luck and let us know how you get on xx
Was just about to say the same....get tested for H Pylori
Presumably she also has hashimoto’s too?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 £29 (via NHS private service )
I just happened to open this forum on your question.
I am not medically qualified but am an Admin on TUK but one of their Advisers to Thyroiduk was an expert in the use of T3 (liothyronine) and he also ran the Fibromyalgia Research Foundation before his accidental death.
I thought you'd be interested in the following as I am aware that most countries may have a different idea of what causes fibro
