Allergic to Prednisone.

Whatever you do, please keep away from prednisone until it’s established whether or not you are allergic to it. I personally would not touch prednisone as ‘‘this was the cause of my AVN which resulted in me having both my hip bones replaced in 1997 and 1998 respectively.

Did they not put you on calcium when you were on it.

No but I do eat quite a lot of eggs, butter, milk, etc. as well as many other things to supplement my diet.

They know what it does to your bones, so I find it terrible that you weren’t looked after better.

You are quite right DeeD123 but that’s there attitude - money speaks louder than words. They don’t take into account what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. In future I’m going to try my hardest to keep away from steroids or whatever name they are called???

Hey Ripon, I was on 40 mcg of Prednisone daily for a silly skin pruritus, the day I took it I felt so weak, next day I had a rash spreading from my chest up to my forehead, itchy and bumpy, went to a&e, I stopped it and it caused thyroid fluctuations and ended up overmedicated on thyroid hormones, then subsequently doctors not understanding anything, they took me off my ALL thyroid meds - whole 4 grains of ndt. I'm only recovering now, 2.5 years later. Unless life threatening, I won't take it. My gp was appalled this was prescribed to me at another clinic.

It’s disgraceful what they did to you Ritatita. They obviously haven’t got a clue with regard to the damage they are doing to your health or they don’t care.

Thankfully I have a good doctor now, but it's unbelievable how clueless the others were! And then they wanted me on antidepressants, idiots :)

They think antidepressants are the answer to everything. All they want is to shut you up to stop you asking them awkward questions which they don’t know and can’t answer - how ignorant and stupid are they.

in reply toripon1756

Exactly, anti-depressants seem to be an answer for everything nowadays! I have never taken them and not planning to, research studies don't confirm how they work and if they are effective.
