- 2 weeks later I’m asked to make an appointment (no doubt due to low TSH)
- I ignore it
- Went to pick up usual prescription the following week to find a letter attached saying I won’t get anymore T3 unless I make an appt (the prescription given to me was for 1 week supply ONLY!!!! - but contained my usual 2 month supply of T4)
- Made an appt for today under duress ....
Today, I was told by my GP that the pharmacist in-house did all that and she herself had no issue writing me a full 2 month supply of T3 BUT I need to get my usual private endo (Toft) to write her another letter just saying he’s happy for me to continue as is. Told her he’s retired and these appts cost a fortune. Also told her I feel better than I have in a while (back in full time employment etc). Told her I may not find an appt for a while due to availability and cost. She said she’ll reinstate the prescription but needs that letter!!!
I’m honestly at a loss!!! No idea who I can find to replace my old Endo who will do this.

I'm sure there was a post very recently mentioning Dr Toft's replacement. Because the search facility isn't particularly good I can't find the post. I wonder if it would be worth you putting up a new post asking "Does anyone know who Dr Toft's replacement is" and asking if he's happy to continue recommending T3 for Dr Toft's previous patients who do well on it. Ask for replies to be sent in a private message (because we can't discuss individual doctors on the forum without their permission).
I would have thought all the evidence was there for your GP to continue prescribing without all the palavar!
Did she not have a letter from TOFT previously? If so why does she need another. You don’t just stop T3. The need for annual testing of hypo seems to have been withdrawn? I notice annual review dates no longer show on prescription. So assume if stable carry on.
I thought that the GP couldnt stop/start T3 without an endo say so.
Seems to be twisting it to say that they need an endo say so, to continue. Either way, even if you had made the GP appointment straight away, they haven't exactly given you much time have they?
I d be tempted to say you want an NHS referral and that they have continue prescribing while you re on the list.
