Evening time on t4

Hey

Something strange, I feel the levo helping only at night where I begin to feel a little better for a couple of hours but most of the day hypo symptoms. Hopefully the next increase to 50mcg might help.

Also the current dose I’m taking seems to make me itch a lot especially the morning shower

Any help or comments appreciated

Previous post shows low FT3 and FT4

Very low Vitamin D

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

No folate, ferritin or B12 tested

So you will need FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing privately 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested yet?

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

That is probably more to do with cortisol than T4.

Khan this is very interesting to me when you said that the T4 dose made you itch . I experienced it myself for a while and couldn't wrap my head around why I was itching and breaking out from ? Thinking that perhaps I was not dosing up to par yet with T4 . Then I thought that being a Hashimoto patient and being more sensitive to many foods/fillers can cause it . I'm off all gluten dairy eggs corn soy coffee sugar for many years and it has helped me immensely . Yet I was still having itching and breakouts .

I now lowered my T4 dose for some time and added more T3 to make up for the difference and it made a huge improvements for me . I just feel that being on T4 only for many years and being on T3/NDT for just about three years my body is wanting less of the T4 hormone and more of the T3 /NDT. It's very possible that since I'm not a good converter from T4 to T3 my body is wanting more T3 that wasn't getting . Adding more T3 and lowering the T4 made a huge difference for me now .

We need to tune in to our symptoms/journal and advocate for ourselves . Our bodies are very resilient and communicate very well . But sometimes we just don't get the messages .

Best Wishes for Well-being .
