Do you mean your TSH was "off the charts" high? or low? Or your Free T4?

Also, do you mean your levothyroxine dose was reduced?

If your TSH was HIGH, your levothyroxine dose should be INCREASED - not reduced. But if it was Free T4, then a dose reduction might be sensible.

Please clarify and we can make sure we answer appropriately. :-)

Yes it was high my ths. I was on 150 mg now he has me on 137 mg. And my free t 4 was high. I had thyroid cancer 1988. And. Had t 131 radioactive treatments. Then in 2014. They found a rare tumor in the right side of my throat and it was so big it was closes up my throat. So that was removed. They don't know what caused it. Now I'm having issues with my swallowing. Every 6 months they go in and stretch it and do botrix shots to.

Always get actual results and ranges on all tests

How much Levothyroxine are you currently taking?

Never reduce dose of Levothyroxine based just on TSH test

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common on Levothyroxine

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or vitamins

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 £29 (via NHS private service )

Add results and ranges if you have any.

Or come back with new post once you get tested
