I’ve managed to get some T3 from a private endocrinologist it’s on its way to me so I should hopefully have it before the end of the week. I was advised to reduce Levothyroxine from 125 to 100 micrograms. I was thinking about reducing to 100 for 3 doses before starting. I have a prescription for 25 cynomel a day. Should I split the dose or take it all at once in the morning. I’m aware it’s a bit trial and error but I want this to make me feel better as soon as possible.

T3 dosing advice please?
I wouldn't start on the full dose. Start on quarter tablet once or twice a day and then every 2 weeks add another quarter tablet until you are at the full dose. Hope it works out.
Hi
If you don't mind me asking, what was your diagnose and how many years you have been on levo, and what were your symptoms?
Just wanted to compare to symtomps that I be been having lately
Thanks
Hi Sem 74
I don’t mind you asking at all.
Looking back I suspect I’ve been hypothyroid for many years but I was only diagnosed in 2017. I was on 75mcg Levothyroxine until July this year. I didn’t feel any different taking it. It’s true to say I pushed myself very hard and ignored symptoms until I couldn’t any more. I’m a competitive cyclist and my performance was perhaps slightly worse or maybe stable but I was training hard and I should have seen improvements. That’s when I began to question what was happening. I got an increase in Levothyroxine and it might have helped I’m not sure. I continued training and my performance on the bike totally tanked! So much so I couldn’t even ride for 10 minutes. It’s only since I’ve rested I’ve actually realised the symptoms I’m experiencing are not just because I was training hard it’s because I’m hypothyroid. I got a second increase to 125 mcg Levothyroxine But I find this is not comfortable, my T3 increased but my resting heart rate went upto 90 bpm. When I’m cycling my max heart rate is going upto 208 bpm. This is too much for an active relatively fit person. I should be much lower than this.
I still can’t ride my bike for any more than an hour, which is very poor and I’m loosing strength and power the longer this goes on.
For some reason I went into acute renal failure, this was discovered completely by chance as I’d gone to the GP to request a full blood panel as advised on here. I think the GP got a fright after pretty much treating me like I was making it all up!
The GP suggested a referral to a private endo and he prescribed T3, I expect it to arrive tomorrow.
My symptoms now are mainly muscular pain and tiredness, I feel heavy and sluggish, for someone who could win races I’m now struggling getting up the stairs, it hurts and I’m breathless at the top!
I am praying that T3 will return me to myself again and get me out on my bike. Cycling is my social life so it’s very important even if I’m not racing.
I’m not sure if that helps you.
