It is African swine fever that is sweeping through Asia.

From what I can see, it is of no health concern to humans - both because it cannot survive long enough (I suspects it is months from pig to desiccated thyroid tablets) and because it cannot infect humans. But that was the result of a quick search - more intensive research could find issues?

The virus can live for weeks on infected slaughtered meat or cold cuts, on tainted feed, and on animal feed additives.

While causing high mortality in domesticated and wild pigs, the disease does not infect humans.

Our concern is far more likely to be that there simply won't be any desiccated thyroid available to manufacture tablets.

Thanks for this reassuring info!

I share your concern about the future availability of raw material as a result of this epidemic - in the past year, we've seen two of the three Thai brands taken off the market, leaving only Thyroid-S.

It is getting hard to source ThyroidS so it is a massive worry. I wonder if the USA does get hold of the NHS drug supply would their NDT be easily available to us? Knowing our luck probably not...

Yes, I've noticed, it's very worrying. I ordered from a European supplier a month ago and the info has not changed since; it just says "order being processed". I'm starting to worry and wondering why the seller hasn't informed me if it's out of stock...have contacted seller and hoping for a swift reply. Several Thai sellers are also out of stock. I wonder if there has been an increased demand for Thyroid-S since Thiroyd and TR were discontinued, or if it has been discontinued as well...if anyone has any info, please post it here if general or PM if containing supplier details.
