Losing weight
No you don't always put on weight. I lose weight when undermedicated.
Hi
I definitely lost weight & have heard others who are hypo say the same. It’s so important to get your key vitamins optimal. Have you had your B vitamins, D & ferritin checked? I’ve also found it beneficial to go Gluten Free.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and antibodies if not been done
Coeliac is more common with hypothyroidism
Ask GP to do coeliac blood test
I too lose weight. I was offered Tirosint to improve my absorption of thyroid medication but lost too much weight on it. I am back on Synthroid again & have regained my weight. I have never put on excessive weight.
Yes, but I have central hypo and low cortisol. It's usually the low cortisol that causes weight (and appetite) loss. Not everyone puts on weight with hypo, it's a common misconception
I wished I did lose weight I've got the opposite affect
I so wish i could lose the 2 stone i have put on
