Do Glucocorticoids suppress tsh if on thyroxine?

Any idea for how long the effect lasts?

Short course of 30mg prednisone. A paper I found says it does but I couldn’t see how long it can effect for.

How long is your course of prednisolone?

I have had a 5 day course of 40mg daily. I kept it as far away from my Levo as possible (I take my Levo during the early hours of the morning when I need a bathroom trip). However, my TSH is always suppressed so it wouldn't show any difference if measured.

This study suggests prednisolone can decrease TSH but has no effect on T4 and T3

I had a course earlier this year. I’m trying to work out if it could have affected a blood test I had then at the Gp upon which some decisions were made. Potentially if the tsh was lower than it should have been obviously the test was incorrect.

Although I’ve remembered now that t4 was measured too and was high, so bang goes that theory.

But it’s something I perhaps need to be aware of in the future. I only take it occasionally for a bad asthma attack.
