Cortisol test?

Hi all. I am thinking of ordering a cortisol test. My usual mad mix of symptoms continues but also I've not had a proper night of sleep since February. I cannot stay asleep for long and when I manage some sleep I am plagued with lucid dreaming and nightmares. I also feel 'nervous' a lot of the day when I've no need to be. I do still think I have thyroid issues but thought it might be worth checking adrenal function. Can anyone recommend a test which I can have done privately? Many thanks in advance.

You should order one that tests both Cortisol plus DHEA, both are needed. Don't spend money on one that only tests Cortisol alone.

Regenerus and Genova Diagnostics do the test which includes both. They need to be ordered with ThyroidUK as your "practioner" as they don't deal direct with the public.

Many thanks for your reply. I think I’ll go with Regenerus. The only medications I’m currently taking are HRT and vitamin D/K2 spray with a magnesium supplement. Would any of these affect DHEA/cortisol test?

There is an instruction sheet that comes with the test kit and it will contain information about HRT and other hormones. Just follow the instructions for whichever form you are taking (pill, patch, etc). If you are in any doubt you can contact them.

Also, there is a form you need to complete and send back with details of hormones, etc, you take, so make sure you put accurate information on that.

Any supplements you take you don't take any on the day of collection until after you have collected the last one.
