Advice on bad reaction to levothyroxine brand change.

I haven’t posted in quite a while. I have been doing well on 75mcg levo (Mylan) and 20mcg of cytomel. Pharmacy changed manufacturer of levo to (Lupin). I have taken new one for two weeks and my heart rate it running above 120 and I’m short of breath. They are ordering a different generic, but can’t get Mylan and synthroid is back ordered. Should I skip levo for a few days before trying new generic? They will have new generic in tomorrow. I had the same symptoms when levo was at 100mcg, so I’m thinking the lupin brand is stronger than Mylan brand. Advice would be awesome.

It sounds as that could be a possibility but I’m not familiar with your brand Mylab. It’s always advisable when you are settled with medication to stick with that brand as other brands could be stronger/weaker, have fillers that your body isn’t happy with and potency could also be slightly different. I would drop the dose don’t a little but also have a word the the Pharmacist to see if they know of any ongoing issues so you can be prepared. Sometimes others don’t realise what adifference brand of medication can do to us so may be the pharmacy should be made aware of how this has made you struggle.

Thank you for your response. I transferred my levo script to a pharmacy that carries Mylan brand. My regular pharmacist completely understood and even agreed that it was in my best interest. I skipped dose today and will start back up tomorrow with the brand that pulled me from the brink. I now have two pharmacies. Thankful they are located next to each other. I take liothyronine too and they don’t carry the same generic of that hormone either. 🤪...Just a small bump in the road of remission from Hashimoto!
