Can someone please help.

Hello,

I have thyroid nodules, like about 6 or so all up (I haven’t got my report I need to get a print out from my GP) I’ve had nodules for 10 years now, found them when my thyroid was playing up during my 1st pregnancy and it played up with the next 3 pregnancies as well but never needed meds or anything as it was pregnancy induced.

Anyway I’ve had a recent CT scan to check my lungs and it was noted my thyroid was bulky and had nodules (which I already knew) GP sent for another ultrasound to have another look (difference GP and completely different states to when they were 1st found) I had a fine needle aspiration on the biggest one in 2014 after my 3rd child was born and all normal.

However new scan shows to smaller ones that look more solid than fluid filled.

GP not concerned as they are small but need to rescan in 4-6 months. Just recently my TSH was slightly out (I’m not sure high or low I can’t remember) but GP not concerned 🙄 and prior to now it’s never been out other than in pregnancy, not pregnant we are done having kids.

Can someone please tell me what all the appropriate levels should be?

I’ve been unwell with racing heart beat and palpitations for no reason (dr saying anxiety) ended up in emergency last night and Dr said need to go back to an endocrinologist (just by feeling my thyroid and history.) we were still waiting on bloods. But my GP seems to think everything is fine and I don’t know if I should just see another DR to get a referral back to the one I saw years ago.

I’m so sorry this is so long I have been so sick and can’t figure out why, I’ve lost 12kg since having an iron infusion almost 3 months ago (ferritin levels were 11) they got brought up to 150 but have dropped back down to 120 I think last bloods were.

I’m just so lost.

Thank you if you read though all of this.

Well, it would be nice if he was concerned especially as you say you've been sick and lost weight.

Not without knowing the reference range. And if TSH is the only test done then you also need Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies testing also.

If TSH is over range with low FT4 then that suggests hypOthyroidism.

If TSH is below range with high FT4 then that suggests hypERthyroidism.

If thyroid antibodies are positive that suggests autoimmune thyroid disease.

Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) and Thyroglobulin (Tg) are antibodies for Hashi's (underactive).

Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) and TSH receptor antibodies (TRAbs) are for Graves (overactive).

Hashi's can often start with a hyper phase then go on to hypo.

Thank you so much! I haven’t had antibodies checked.
