pregnant with thyroid no worries: so you are... - Thyroid UK
pregnant with thyroid no worries
I am glad you have no problems with your thyroid gland or getting to the correct dose. I am also assuming you are a male.
Unfortunately for us who are female, we have to contend with much more than just taking one daily dose of levothyroxine.
Miscarriages are common for a start or difficulty in becoming pregnant when hypothyroid.
The reason we have over 101,856 members on this forum, is that they are here for support and information because they've been failed by the medical profession, i.e. either remain undiagnosed or not on an optimum dose of thyroid hormones that suit them. Levothyroxine doesn't work for everyone unfortunately and it is regretful that the Associations have withdrawn two most important thyroid hormone replacements that were successful for many patients and gave them back their health.
The millions who are content on levothyroxine and healthy wont be on this forum but getting on with their lives.
Many woman who would love to be pregnant and have a safe delivery but due to 'mother nature' it has proven difficult and caused heartache.
Congratulations.
Please be aware that it is not that easy for everyone.
Overacting? What? Is this stream of consciousness? Satire? Are you asking a question? Is this a reply to the post below - which is actually about overactive thyroid so taking thyroid replacement is irrelevant? Sorry, I can’t follow what you have written. 🤸🏿♀️🥛
My interpretation is as follows, for anyone that doesn't read this language: because thyroxine has no influence on whether a man can "get pregnant", it clearly won't have an effect on whether a woman can get pregnant. But nobody ever thinks about the effect it will have on men!
100mcg is such a small dose anyway, what real difference could it possible make to anyone. Stop stressing about it, you'll be as fine on 100mcg as with none at all!
Despite having an underactive thyroid, his children and grandchildren are all healthy, and he had no issues with the pregnancy at all!
Well I have to say, that's reassuring!
