Sore mouth

In the last few months I have suffered from an ulcerated tongue and, once, a swollen mouth - tongue, lips etc. I went to the dentist and he said it was probably something I ate that didn't agree with me. I eat a fairly good diet but I have noticed that if I eat sweet things I am unable to sleep and am wondering if that could be what is causing the sore mouth. Does anyone else have any experience of this, any suggestions of what might be causing it and how to tackle it? At present my tongue has had tiny blisters on it and I feel a bit weak inside as though maybe my digestive tract has something similar going on.

Could be nutritional deficiencies. Ask your doctor to test vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin.

I would agree with the advice from greygoose , it sounds very much like a vitamin deficiency. When my low B12 was untreated my tongue and mouth were very sore and ulcerated.

A swollen tongue and sore mouth generally can be a hypothyroid symptom. A scalloped tongue is very characteristic, this is when the tongue swells and there are dents along the edges.
