Hi folks, yes I am a member of the underactive thyroid club dealing with the understated and misunderstood symptoms that come with this diagnosis.
Apart from the usual variety box of problems we sufferers endure I am now trying to dealing with droopy eyelids, my left one in particular is so low I can see it in my peripheral vision and feel it weighing down on my eyelashes, the right one is not as bad but still saggy.
I visited my GP explained that this is progressively getting worse and it causes an arc across my sight. He suggested two options a "zapping" which may need several treatments and may not work or surgery. Ok so zapping thing would that stop surgery further down the road if it did not work - no was his response but his next comments almost caused my unstable emotions to overflow.
He told me as it is cosmetic it would have to pay, £300 per session of zapping and about £3k per eye for surgery. I told him I cant afford either and asked why can I not be referred to a consultant for further discussion, he reluctantly did this and said he would support my referral but why not do that in the first place, was he trying to earn a few bob on the side, this is not cosmetic (ok it does not look particularly attractive) I have left this for possibly years but now its affecting my sight, surely its clinical being a symptom of thyroid problems.
Any advise guys and girls
