A few days ago I had a CT scan and was injected with an iodine dye as a better picture would result. Since then I have felt quite ill with a sore neck, gastro upset, general muscle pain & fatigue.....I have also developed a hoarse cough, feel as if I've got to clear my throat. Can you help with this please?

Adverse reaction to iodine
I had a CT scan 6 days ago ,the second I have had . Neither was followed with adverse symptoms except the cough and phlegm which is now reduced. On the other hand I had this symptom throughout my chemo.
I had a bad reaction to iodine contrast 3 years ago that sent me hyper. If you feel unwell I would go and see GP ask for full thyroid test especially T3. I was fobbed off as they only tested TSH and T4. My TSH was only 2.7 and T4 was only 13 so I was told my symptoms were anxiety. A few months later I was really unwell so I went to doc again and insisted I had T3 tested. My body had been converting the T4 like mad to get rid of it and T3 was pooling because my ferritin was low. So it's worth insisting if you know you feel unwell
Hi,
I also had contrast dye during a CT scan, my TSH went over range and I felt really 'off' for a while, It did die down after 2 weeks and everything returned to normal, I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for the information......I'll try the gp. I was dx with lyme disease but the gps didn't help much with that ....I had to send for tests from Germany and the further tests recommended by them were never followed up by my gp.....maybe I'll have better luck with thyroid tests.....although their lack of knowledge re endocrine seems to be widespread!
