I'm currently on NDT, and the key is to raise it very very slowly, by half a grain or even a quarter grain.
You will feel very unwell if you raise by that much too soon, its the T3 in it.
I can't raise my NDT by anymore than 2 grains so I'm adding some T4 (LEVO) in the mix, it sends my T3 thyroid results sky high and I feel awful.
Everyone is different on how long they waited until raising NDT dosage, but, I raised it by 1/2 grain every 3 weeks, and I split my dosage 6am and 2pm. What you don't want to do is miss your sweet spot by thinking that perhaps you need more NDT. When you feel so ill your desperate to get better so think adding more fast may help, I have been tempted to do this, but then thought ride it, and take it slower.
If this is too much, as in you get heart palpitations, jittery, anxious then maybe only increase by a quarter grain. I brought a craft knife to cut the tablets as it gave a clean cut.
It’s very nice of you to give me a full reply ! It’s wasn’t actually what i was after as I already know all of this BUT....
I know someone who actually did raise..immediately....a similar jump..and amazingly did well ! And so I thought I’d see if anyone had had a similar experience.....as I was slightly tempted to go down this route..but also terrified of the consequences !
HOWEVER...
One little thing you said has helped me...read it all before but,.,
I’ve never been on 2.25 grains a year ago..
And for complex reasons I can’t go into I had to reduce to half a grain...and not can’t get dose higher than 3/4 grain,,,.
And of course I’m very under medicated.
Tried many times...
Just raising by a quarter ...l
But I think I’ll have a go now at a half a grain instead and split as you suggest...
I have recently managed to add in 6 mcg of t3,,,,one week in no problems..but I need to get to three weeks in I find...before I know...then,..or before if extra silly ! .will try the half grain split
So thanks for your reply...it’s given me food for thought.
