So today I found out I am pregnant. I’m overjoyed but a little worried as my TSH was over 5 on my last check around 4 weeks ago. Meds have since been increased.
Can’t get a GP appointment until 2 weeks time.
Should I be calling my GP to ask for any blood work urgently due to my TSH not yet being stable?
Yes, you should call your doctor to have your blood test done.For sure, if you have your meds upgrade, your tsh should be lower.I know ideally when pregnant tsh should be around 2( i had 0.005 , supressed as you can see due nature throid).
I’ve had my results through today and TSH is 3.1. Was told this was ‘normal’ Even though I am now in the first 12 weeks od pregnancy.
Thank you. I couldn’t get through to the GP who is of the mindset it needs to be 2.5 or below today - pains of multiple GPs in one practice. I’m on the list for tomorrow so hopefully will get a dose increase when I speak to her then. Just massively frustrating it always takes a battle!

No luck today. First told it was only meant to be 2.5 to conceive but as I’ve now conceived I should be fine. I reiterated NICE guidance of 2.5 or below and was told they needed to seek advice with obstetrics, could I call and give number on midwife’s booking appointment letter. I got no answer at that number so not sure how my GP is planning on getting a response. I’m so frustrated and debating taking an extra dose myself but I obviously don’t want to make matters worse. I won’t hear back from my GP until Friday.
