Antibody results

My son has hypo symptoms but his antibodies came back negative. ThyPerox was 11.6 IU/mL shows negative less than 50. Does that mean ok or can some antibody cause problems? TSH near top of normal range.

It was mentioned in reply to your previous thread about getting a full thyroid/vitamin tests to include both types of antibodies plus Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin. Blue Horizon Thyroid plus Eleven. Did you get this done?

I couldnt get blood taken for that so did the available antibody test. Havent got NHS thyroid results back yet. Only this one.

You can have negative TPO antibodies but positive TG antibodies.

And of course you can have non-Hashi's hypothyroidism which lots of us here have.

But at the end of the day, full testing as suggested will give a complete picture.

Blue Horizon can arrange home phlebotomy, plus there are other home phlebotomy services, or BH have clinics you can attend for blood draw.

Ok. So you reckon the results I gave for TPO mean it isn't autoimmune? The TG was clearly negative.

11.6 (<50) is negative. But apparently it's possible to have Hashi's without raised antibodies.

Very common for young men to have very low vitamin D

Push GP to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

What's your son's diet like? Vegetarian? Vegan? Picky eater?

Weight gain or weight loss?

What does this look like to you?

TSH 3.32 (0.35-5.5)

Free T4 15.4 (10-19.8)

Free T3 5.8 (3.9-6.8)

Folate 9.37 (>5.38)

B12 346 (211-911)

Ferritin 29.8 (22-322)

Dont think have Vit D one

We tried lots of supplements over Christmas but didnt make much difference. He is having a multivit now which contains D3.

TSH is a bit above average

FT4 and FT3 look fine

Ferritin is low, especially for a male

Does he eat meat?

Ask GP for full iron panel to test for Anaemia

B12 is also fairly low

Vitamin D testing
