Hi all,

Could any if you tell me if there I'd anything in these results worth investing further?

I have b12 deficiency and pernicious anaemia which is being treated every 6 weeks with injections

I also have a multinodular non toxic goitre which I have been told requires no action and no monitoring

I'm a 25 year old female with no other known health conditions

Your TSH is on the high side, heading towards hypo, but not quite there. Your thyroid is struggling. But, you really need your FT4 and FT3 tested to know more about the thyroid. TSH on its own tells you very little.

What you should be concerned about is your ferritin. It may be in-range, but it is far from normal. More testing should be done for that. Ask your doctor for an iron panel. Ferritin needs to be at least 70 for the body to be able to use thyroid hormones, both endogenous and exogenous, so it might be best to sort that before exploring your thyroid further.

It might be a good idea to also get your vit D, vit B12 and ferritin tested, to see if they are also low.

Greygoose meant ...get your vitamin D and folate tested

Ferritin is very low, low ferritin is very common when hypothyroid

Eating liver or liver pate once a week, plus other iron rich foods like black pudding, prawns, spinach, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily vitamin C can help improve iron absorption

As you have Pernicious Anaemia it's more likely to have another autoimmune disease

It's also much more likely to have raised TPO antibodies with a multi modular goitre

GP should have tested TPo Thyroid antibodies, have they?

Recommend getting FULL Thyroid testing, that's TSH, FT3 and FT4 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also vitamin D and folate

Ask GP to do so...or test privately

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Medichecks currently have an offer on until end of May - 20% off

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
