Are you diagnosed as being hypothyroid

Constipation is common problem when hypothyroid

See GP or nurse at surgery tomorrow

Donkeys,

1 teaspoon of psyllium husk in plenty of water. Increase to twice a day if necessary.

Also prunes are good or just drinking the juice. Eat plenty of roughage and above all stay well hydrated. 💦

Welcome to our forum. Post any thyroid blood test results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) for members to comment. Constipation is a classic symptom of low thyroid hormone.

Ground linseed, couple teaspoons sprinkled on salad or in juice. Or take more oils if you prefer, omega 3 or 6 or vitamin D even helps if you need that.

If this is any use, please check appropriately to see if it suits you and your condition, looking towards natural healing where possible for a raft of illnesses and conditions including hypothyroid, I've started taking orthomolecular mega Vit C (Dr Linus Pauling) and worked up to a moderate dose of a heaped teaspoon a day mixed in a mix of orange juice and water, sipped throughout the day for maximum absorbency. That level gives me very easy poos without being liquidy but that 'flushing dose' I believe they call it, differs for everybody. It's even more important to get this right for me as I've developed a bad rectocele, not recommended. I kg pack of pure Vit C powder is about £17 on line and lasts ages. My 2 little dogs are on it too, just a tip of a teaspoon mixed in with their evening meal, but I get them sodium ascorbate powder. It might be worth looking into.

I only became slightly constipated after my gallbladder was removed. I asked at a local pharmacy and was told to use Lactoluse this is gentler and if used once or twice a week it works quickly and effectively. I also have colonic irrigation twice a year to clear out my bowel this is wonderful if you suffer from constipation and it keep the bowel in good condition.

Vitamin C, vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and Magnesium all help with gut motility for future reference. Have a warm bath in Epsom Salts as well as it'll help a lot with the back and abdominal pain you get with constipation.

Magnesium Citrate. It’s a liquid that is sold in pharmacies /drugstores here in the US. Only need to drink a few ounces and it works within a couple of hours.

Have you been (or are you able) to move about & exercise? That helps preventatively if your situation has not become too dire.

Pain medications can really slow down your gastrointestinal system. If you are on any you will need to work out countering measures of this action to keep your system moving.
