Nr Infrared Light and Frankinsense to support Thyroid Function

Hi, sometime ago after learning of near infra red light and also frankincense application to support thyroid function, I purchased the nr infrared red light (from Redlightman.co.uk) and promised to feed back on any results

I do not take any medication but have my TSH climb ever higher from 1 to 3.8. Symptoms that could be B12 deficiency/family history or low thyroid function - hair loss, vertigo etc

I began to use the nr infrared light combi: 5 mins per day and made a coconut oil /frankincense mixture in a 5ml blue glass roller bottle (amazon) I bought organic fractionated coconut oil from Fushi .co.uk , filled the bottle and added 5 drops of frankincense sacra and applied and massaged on to the thyroid area. Relaxing scent.

My annual blood tests showed that my TSH had fallen from 3.8 to 2.8. This may not be significant but to me it is. My TSH has not fallen when measured in yrs x

Hi Espeegee, Great that you have a lamp. Fascinating the science now coming out re how the light in the specific wavelengths feeds the mitochondria in our cells, Considering the mitochondria produce our energy by converting nutrients from our food eaten and that we with thyroid issues often suffer from a lack of energy seems a no brainer really to use for that purpose alone. But to now find out that mitochondria can feed on the light that we are exposed to is gobsmacking, the health and numbers of mitochondria in our cells being so crucial, well, life supporting.

I always have a shower or wash before using the nr infrared light as yes I have heard the same, some things could stop absorption although I did wonder as have heard that beneficial ingredients may be made more effective - who knows. So no, I don't apply before the light treatment. I apply afterwards. I have a full body red/near infra red light combi and so get dressed afterwards and then apply the oil. I have Rheumatoid Arthitis (24 yrs now) so my joints need care and I don't take meds just use diet and food based supplements, essential oils and obviously now the near infra red light is a great boon. Thanks for your reply :)

Great to hear this is working for you. Can you please advise which lamp you have bought as no idea where to start but would love to try this. Many thanks.

Go to website redlightman .co.uk

He is British engineer - read all the links on the health conditions known to have been helped - Thyroid in particular. In my opinion anyone with any health condition should look at thyroid function.

The US scientists have made a similar (far more expensive) red/near infra red light called Joov. So you can google Joov for further info.

Scientists now have found how the mitochondria in our cells (which convert our nutrients provided by our food into energy) can convert the specific wavelength of red/near infrared light into energy. So use of the light is beneficial for the health of our mitochondria and such a beneficial environment for them encourages their reproduction too. Light is food for a mitochondria :) Each of our cells (excluding red blood cells - I think) have mitochondria. Organs such as the heart requiring high energy will have 1000's of mitochondria, similarly thyroid, brain, other cells less and cells that require little energy in comparison will have just a few.

I bought the small hand held combi (£100) for using on my v poorly dog - given 3 months to live - still with us 2 years later. (informed about by a dog chiropractor we took her to) I read up about, listened to health podcasts about - Joov scientists interviewed by Dave Asprey you tube for one example.) Dr jill Carnahan info about, certainly mentioned in the Functional Medical Doctors circle. Functional Medicine practitioners find the root cause of a health issue. People go to Swiss health clinics to access treatment with nr infrared light lamps.

So I learned that I could use this near infrared lamp on my thyroid, joints, anywhere. Great if you just want to use on the thyroid but I had learned so much that I bought the full body light sold on the redlightman's site (£720). There is no difference between the function of the hand held light (sim to small hairdryer size) and the full body length. The thing is if you have lots of different areas you want to cover with 5 mins treatment time each then it can be time consuming. whereas the full body you just stand infront of 5 mins front of body and 5 mins your back, if you should wish and all the family will use. The small handheld is definitely a bonus though if you are away from home often as can take with you.

Hope this helps x

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. It is absolutely fascinating and I'm sure as you say would be beneficial for the whole family. My daughter suffers from ME and recently post-concussion syndrome and I'm wondering whether the red light would help her conditions also. I have just now contacted redlightman to ask whether his lamps are near or far infra red (which is yours please?) and hopefully will be investing in one very soon! Many thanks again!

He sells red light, Near infrared light also and a combination of the 2 called a combi. Far infra red is a different spectrum of wave length. Far infared is what you would get in an infrared sauna to make you sweat toxins out.

You need a specific wavelength for the light to be effective

Which redlightman's are

I believe some conditions respond better to red light only and others to

near infrared. Many studies seem to show effectiveness from

620 +670 and 760 + 830 which is why he has produced the combi. combination of both effective wavelengths.

I have the full body combo body light 2. £720

I bought originally the combo mini (time consuming if more than one area but a lot cheaper £96) More likely to stick to using everyday if can just stand infront of the full body light.

On the site click on the red tab across the top stating light info

info re lots of health conditions drops down

Also the Blog tab x

It a .com, not a co.uk BTW

LynneG profile image
LynneG in reply toAngel_of_the_North

oops sorry that is correct. Because it is a British co. as opposed to US, I get confused and say .co.uk. But easy to find if just google red light man

Exactly which one did you get for your dog? There are half a dozen small ones for around 100.

Interesting Lynne! How long have you been doing it for that result?

LynneG profile image
LynneG in reply toGilbo72

I only have blood test annually. I was away a lot last summer so I would say 6 months consistently. But used on and off before that . But def from one set of blood tests to the other, so max 12months x

There is no active boswellia in Frankincense oil (whatever MLM companies say) - you need to use the resin. I've heard that near infra red is useful for many complaints. Did your thyroid hormones improve at all?

Not had tested recently. I have TSH tested annually with other blood tests that I have.

RA (no meds) . I have watched my TSH climb over the years from the first test when measured 1. Just significant to me that has fallen when it has never fallen before only risen.

I have some resin but never made.

I can only judge by my experience and I know that Frankincense Sacra does have an effect

I had sun damage - just above my top lip. v sore scabby, would peel scab off/newskin/would regrow constantly regrowing over months. Referred to hospital dermatologist. given chemo cream to apply at night. Instructions use every other night as so strong. Did not get rid of. Dermatologist then froze the area. said once healed if comes back, return to us. If returns after 6 weeks you will need a new referral. Returned after 7 weeks. During this time I had researched and so decided to try frankincense sacra when I could get some. The weeks had gone by and was inflamed and skin kept regrowing just as before the cream and freezing. I applied the frankincense neat and the next day was much better and over several days and was gone and not returned. I have had the ocasional damage again on my face in different areas and I apply the frankincense immediately and it goes

I also had a lump about peasized under my foot making it very painful to walk. Suffered for 2 months, getting bigger. From my googling I believe it was a fibroma. Many people seemed to suffer from especially runners/athletes. Concensus just have to live with. People had operations to remove, healing taking several months and still grew back.

I remembered frankincense and applied before bed, the next morning I thought it was less painful and really thought just imagining it. I applied neat that morning and night the next day was definitely less painful. The day after no pain at all. I continued applying for a week and the lump got smaller until after 7 days dig as I might I could not feel the lump. Never returned. So that to me is evidence the oil does work but I will only use Sacra as that was what I was using.

I cannot believe that there are no chemical constituents at all in the oil

Other essential oils contain chemicals - terpenes etc, carvacrol in wild oregano oil which provides its efifacy. I cannot therefore believe that there is no chemical make up in the frankinsence oil whats so ever, and whatever those chemicals are, they work for me

I also do not get any information from marketing companies. I get my info from Functional Medical doctors/clinicians information, their clinical experience with patients and interviews of functional doctors/scientists. one example the ' Functional Forum' conferences, presentations x

I’ve used aromatherapy oils for over 30 years, & have quite an unpleasant reaction to inhaling frankincense (violent nightmares & behaviour). My OH thought I was making excuses to hit & kick him whilst seeming to be fast asleep. He reported lying awake terrified & I’d wake up aching & feeling horrendous. 🤕

I will give my thyroid a sunning. Pity it can’t reach my pituitary, though I’m sure the positive effects will radiate inwards. 🌞

The red/near infra red light will reach the blood and lymph and so reach everywhere, I understand. I have just listened to the Mitochondrial Summit. A broadcast of expert interviews on their knowledge of mitochondria and their function which relates to our energy production. Fascinating info of how mitochondria and so our ability to self heal can become stuck in collapsed mode. So, as regards our health and energy we need to function we need to support our mitochondria, get them out of the shut down cell danger response by providing signals that all is safe in our environment. Providing nutrients and red/nearinfra red light on which they feed will help create such messaging. Presumably affecting Thyroid health x

Looked at holistically, everything affects our thyroid health. :)

LynneG profile image
LynneG in reply toBadHare

Exactly. And our health at cellular level is the crucial connection, messaging the nervous system via the Vagus Nerve, mitochondria messaging mitochondria across cells, messaging between mitochondria and micobiome organisms and genes. Consequently mitochondrial health/ support as our energy producers of ATP is crucial when looking at the body's energy or fatigue x
