Confused regarding iron

Just seen another gp today as mine on annual leave, gp says not to treat with iron supplements as my ferreton normal, but my regular gp put me on supplements? ???

Any advice??

Listen to your regular GP! Your serum iron is low so supplementation is needed to raise it. Ferritin is your iron stores and I doubt that value will change much with supplementation. (Ferritin levels are slow to rise).

Any idea of why your serum iron level has dropped so much over a period of just 4 months?

No idea atm , i had b12 loading doses in jan but otherwise unsure??

I dont have heavy menstrual either its like 2 days and gone im 43 and never had an issue with iron???

Definitely worth investigating. Anemia or iron deficiency is no joke.

Yes ive just had a second period within 2 weeks of last aswell which has never happened and im not pregnant, doct will be investigating this aswell but shes not back until monday, i suffered horendous side effects after b12, my stores were low but active was normal hence why i had injections so yeah something is going on but all other bloods keep coming back normal

It's all so frustrating, isn't it? I'm having similar issues but with iron stores and %Saturation. Just left GPs office and according to him I'm "fine" when clearly I am NOT. Very frustrating. So now I have to figure out a new plan.

I hope you have better luck than I with your doctors.....
