I was diagnosed with Graves last year using TRab test

Treated with carbimazole

Now gone underactive and have hypo symptoms - swollen ankles, depressed, cold intolerant and tingling, not to mention anxiety

Got results of TPO and TGab from private company Triva as shown on photo

Hidden

Both are very low in the green zone, they are negative for Hashi's. They would have to be in the orange zone to be positive.

I'm glad I've made you happy :D

I’m always wondering which seaside you live by!!!

North-west Wales, top end of Cardigan Bay area, below the pointy finger of the Llyn Peninsula. Some people call it Mid-Wales but I always think of that being inland rather than on the coast.

Hugs back to you :)

My nearest seaside is Newcastle Co Down in N Ireland

I was in North Wales last summer for a few nights

Stayed in Betws y Coed

We visited Ffestiniog Porthmadog and

Llandudno and had a lovely time

Take care xxx

Our son introduced us to Newcastle Brown Ale. So good! Is it actually brewed in Newcastle?

Newkie Brown (as we used to call it when I was a student) originates from Newcastle upon Tyne in England, not from Newcastle in N Ireland :)

Something was niggling my mind, that it is no longer Newcastle.

Newcastle Brown Ale is a brown ale, originally produced in Newcastle upon Tyne, but now brewed by Heineken at the Zoeterwoude Brewery in the Netherlands.

But I did think it was still the UK!

Hi jackrussell1, could be you need a dose change on your carbimazole could be that's causing hypo symptoms that's assuming you are still taking, have you any blood test results you could share with us? If it's not that have you looked at your vitamins ferritin, folate vit D and B12 all need to be optimal not just in range. I personally find I need to supplement vit D on a regular basis or it becomes low, I had RAI 9 yrs ago because of graves desease and keeping vitamin levels optimal and also on T3/t4 combo has helped me alot.

in reply to Raventhorpe

Here are my results from Thriva just last week

FT4 18.7 pmol/L (12-22)

Optimal (12-17)

TSH 2.27 mlu/L (0.27-4.3)

Optimal (1-2.5)

FT3 5.28 pmol/L (3.1-6.8)

Optimal (3.1-5)

T4 101 nmol/L (66-181)

Active B12 127 pmol (37.5-188)

Ferritin 136 ug/L (13-150)

Optimal (44-150)

Folate 18.6 (8.83-60.8)

Optimal (40-60.8)

Vitamin D 80.9 (50-175)

Optimal (75-100)

Every day I am tingling - arms legs and face and cold, fatigue, low energy. Feel crap?

I read on Elaine Moore’s site that if you move from hyper to hypo it stimulates antibodies and can give false reading?

I also feel hot and quite flushed now and then which is more like hyper.

Should be through menopause as over two years since last period.

I feel so terrible ..... like this for weeks.

Seeing endo tomorrow.

I’ve been on 2.5mg carbimazole for about 10 weeks - dropped from 5mg.

I was on 5mg since diagnosis January 2018.

Glad you are able to manage yourself

Thanks for reply Raventhorpe

Hey there Jackrussell

It sounds as though you may now be on too much carbimazole.

It's a balancing act between hyper and hypo and can be difficult to manage for the patient.

I'm with Graves post RAI 2005, please don't go down this route, the thyroid is a major gland, and it's better that you keep it, if you possibly can.

Your body clock has been running very fast, and now has been slowed down too much, your vitamins and minerals need to be optimal for any thyroid medication to be optimised in the body, might be worth checking the out ?

Thank you

Endo has introduced T3 5mg

Taken it twice and I feel buzzin

Maybe lower carbi to 1.25 and half the T3

I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

Wouldn’t do anything without permission

Maybe antibodies high

Need tested TRab
