Would I still have Graves antibodies 12 years after RAI treatment? Would it be worth testing for antibodies and which ones would I test for please?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with Graves or Hashimoto's

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

See you have had low FT3 in previous tests, negative result for TPO antibodies (Hashimoto's and/or Graves) that you are on Lansoprazole, this can lower vitamins further, especially B12

No test results for TG antibodies (Hashimoto's or Graves) or TsI or Trab antibodies (graves)

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Private testing for suspected Graves By Medichecks - TSI or TRab antibodies

When were folate, ferritin, B12 and vitamin D last tested

Add results and ranges if you have them

Thank you SlowDragon. Very kind of you to reply. I’ve stopped the Omeprazole as was worried about vitamin and Levo absorption but do worry a bit about acid doing damage. Does Medichecks test all antibodies do you know? It’s the Graves antibodies I’m most interested in but obviously I’d like to have all tested. Will post vit levels tomorrow as I’m away tonight. Are there different types of antibodies with Graves’ disease? Which ones would I be looking for? If I didn’t have certain antibodies active in past test, should that stay the same? Thank you for your reply.

I added links in first reply

Medichecks do standard thyroid test mainly aimed at Hashimoto's. This tests tSH, FT3 and FT4 plus BOTH TPO and TG thyroid antibodies, both of these can be high due to Hashimoto's or Graves.

If wanting to include full vitamin testing too

Then they also do TSI test for antibodies only present with Graves
