Do you take an iron supplement like ferrous fumarate ( how much, how often, when?), with vit C for absorption? Eat bloody meats like black pudding, liver....look up Seasidesusie’s old replies re. dosing, brands etc. probably find them on right in ‘related posts’.

Thanks for your reply,

I have liver three/four times a week, eat bloody meat most days. Dont' take iron supplements as these have not been recommended, I have Hashimotos.

I wouldn't have thought you'd need to improve your level. Have you had an iron panel done or just ferritin?

Althought we see it "ferritin is recommended to be half way through range" the ranges vary, your range is a very wide one. The one we see most on here is 13-150. Normally for females we see 13-150ish and for males up to around 300ish, and sometimes we see this one that goes up to 400ish.

I've read that for females 100-130 is good, and for males a little higher at 150 is good.

Pregnant ladies, or those with heavy periods may require a higher level than otherwise.

Are you supplementing at the moment? I don't think you have anything to worry about and just need to maintain that level which you can do by eating liver every couple of weeks or so, or liver pate, black pudding and other iron rich foods apjcn.nhri.org.tw/server/in...

I'm not medically trained so this is just my opinion.

EDITED TO ADD:

Your reply to Judith wasn't showing when I replied. I don't think you need to eat that much liver now. I would just have it once every one or two weeks but don't eat more than 200g. Retest in 3 months see if you are maintaining your level.

Thanks for this. No never had a iron panel done. This Ferritin level has not changed since diagnosed in March 2019. I am also on the AIP diet, so liver and offal is an important part of my diet.
