Hey all. I used to be that physically Active girl everyday working out 465 minutes on the elliptical. I counted my calories like a pro and that's my goal weight. Then it came to maintaining. However I always struggled with anxiety. I noticed now that I get anxiety when I'm dieting or if I even think about different types of diets I could do. It's overwhelming how many diets are out there haha. But honestly I just want to stick to eating my 1200. Trying to get some type of physical activity where be just fast walking and Skip back to my regular weight without stressing myself out with over-exercising. But for some reason I feel like I'm having a hard time eating the 1200. Around night time or it could happen even during the day I'll get this hyper feeling that I want to get Taco Bell or I want to basically screwed myself up in the diet. Whether it be sweets or whatever. Whenever I eat them it feels like an escape. I feel invisible. Yeah maybe work might be tomorrow morning or it could be Friday night to Saturday night when I'm doing this and then Monday I face reality again. I wake up every morning feeling so depressed if I messed up on my diet. The main thing I want to ask you guys is how can I stay on track again? I do suffer from anxiety and depression and in currently on Wellbutrin but I'm getting weaned off it because it gave me either more anxiety or it just didn't help me with the overeating because when I screwed up my diet again it didn't really help me get back on track it just helps with the depressive feelings so I'm going to be put on Lexapro hopefully because anxiety is more of a problem to me than the depression. When I took Xanax for a week every night I was able to stay on track with a diet. I'm starting to feel like I think I'm ready to go to talk to a person that knows about eating problems and can help me out and simultaneously I'll be probably be on the medication. They are getting back to before but the Queen Question how can I keeping control of myself again and lose the weight without feeling anxious? I'm starting to realize that it probably is an escape. I shut down when I'm eating the chocolate because it feels so good and I forget all of my other problems. I really want this to end this is not me. I went from being 105 lb to now almost a 150 lb. I'm five foot one for crying out loud. Please help me :-( I know I should probably be more social but it's not easy when your self-esteem is so low. I'm considering actually making new friends so I can start a whole new life.

Hi, I've been going through the same thing for the last nine months couldn't figure out what the heck is wrong with me I went to my doctor and demanded a hormone test they have a ton of hormones out of whack and they referred me to an endocrinologist. to make a long story short I just started treatment a month ago although it's not helping me get I hear that it takes time to get into your system I was put on levothyroxine a starter dose. Also they said I have panhypopituitarism. Basically my pituitary gland is not functioning correctly it's not telling my thyroid to do what it needs to do and messing all kinds of chemicals in your brain don't know if that's your case but thought I would mention it so you could maybe mention it to your doctor ?? Hope that helps

Are you diagnosed with a thyroid problem?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Restrictive diets can lead to low vitamins

I recently attended a short course in 'mindfulness'. Went in out of pure nosiness and I found I enjoyed it. It can be very helpful in controlling anxiety and gives some good ways to help deal with difficult situations. It also encourages you to be kind to yourself. You sound like you are having a really tough time, may help

Unless you are very very small, 1200 calories is low for someone who does the amount of exercise you do. Suggest having a look at IIFYM (If it fits your macros) and the calculators/articles (google it). Eating too little is detrimental to ‘weight’ loss and your wellbeing (physical/mental); especially with an under active thyroid.

I turned to weights to improve my body composition. I found it achieved more compared to thrashing myself running/elliptical etc. I get more of a buzz going to lift than I ever did running, swimming etc.

Anxiety can be caused by a lot, and the frustration of not losing / meeting a scale weight can make it worse. Ditching the scales was the best thing I did. I got myself into a rut dieting. Having a de-load and re-adjusting with a different mindset (body composition) helped a lot.

Check out low carb eating. LC is moderate protein & high fat. I've been LC for almost 11 years. Tons of LC sites & recipes. Two of my favorite recipe sites: alldayidreamaboutfood.com &gnom-gnom.com. It's healthy & you won't feel hungry.
