Blood results-what indicators would point to auto-immune disease

Hi I’m hoping someone can help. Although I haven’t got them in front of me I’ve requested from the hospital and waiting for a copy my very first blood results. I want to ensure I’ve been screened for auto immune disease. Which part of the results will tell me this? Thanks in advance!

You want two autoimmune antibodies tested for thyroid disease often referred to on this site as Hashimoto’s, these are TPO and TgAb. One or other or both need to be above range to have autoimmune thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s. NHS tends to do TPO only but you could have raised TgAb. If you get positive post again on the site and you’ll get advice, we’re they testing for other antibodies, or hypothyroidism (TSH, FT4, FT3 etc)?

I’m not sure what they tested for but I’ve been told I have hyperthyroidism due to toxic modular goitre. I asked if I’ve been screened for Auto immune disease (I assume in my case that’s Graves’ disease) and the consultant said yes but I’m interested to see the blood results for myself. Just interested to know Can someone have Graves’ disease as well as toxic modular goitre?

Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO)/Thyroglobulin (Tg) antibodies are the ones for Hashimoto's (underactive)

Thyroid-Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI)/TSH receptor antibodies (TRAbs) are the ones for Graves disease (overactive)

Im doing the same as you. I got a hospital letter yesterday saying my tsi was negative which confirms I have toxic nodule. Ive no idea if any other antibodies were tested (I suspect not) & if this is sufficient.

I hope you have no difficulties getting your results. When I asked drs secretary for my last 2 blood test result she question if I will be able to interpret them? She said she was going to check with doctor.

Have you had an ultrasound to confirm your toxic goitre? And did you get you blood results in the end? You are entitled to them despite what the secretary might think.

I got my blood test copies today. I was tested for TSI only, my result was <0.10 lu/L (Range <0.56).

I’ve had 2 ultra sounds, a fine needle biopsy, a radioactive iodine scan uptake, a camera to see my throat. Plus lots of blood tests. Also back in 2015 before I had a visible goitre I had an ophthalmologist referral due to my “bulging, uneven” eyes, my thyroid results were clear back then.

I asked the secretary yesterday so I heard back yet.
