You would really need to get hold of copies of any blood tests you've had recently.

Anaemia is officially described as having too low a level of haemoglobin in the blood, and I'm assuming this is what you've been told you have.

The World Health Organization defines anaemia as:[1]

Haemoglobin (Hb) <13 g/dL in men over 15 years old.

Hb <12 g/dL in non-pregnant women over 15 years old.

Hb <12 g/dL in children aged 12-14 years.

It is usually associated with (or caused by) low ferritin (iron stores) and/or low iron and/or low vitamin B12 and/or low folate. There are other causes of anaemia but they are rare compared to the ones I've listed (or should I say that they are almost never mentioned on this forum whereas low nutrients are mentioned a huge amount).

If your doctor has mentioned that you don't have low iron was he referring to serum iron or ferritin or something else? It makes a big difference. You could have anaemia as a result of low B12 / low folate. Have these been tested?

If you live in the EU then you are entitled to copies of your medical records and test results under EU law. And they can't be charged for either. Ask the receptionists, not the doctor. Take proof of identity with you e.g. a passport or picture driving license. When you have the results (make sure the reference ranges are included), write a new post, enter the results and reference ranges of the tests you've had in the last year or two, and ask for feedback. Avoid including any information that could identify you.

You have replied to yourself not Humanbean so she wont get notification of your message.

It would be helpful to add the ranges for all these results so that they can be interpreted.

I will tag humanbean so she is aware of your response.
