Sleep anxiety

Hi

My sleep has been disrupted in last 6 months pretty badly. I became anxious about that quickly.....I'd had severe insomnia with a pituitary tumour that was undiagnosed for 3.5 years. Sleep recovered after that was removed and I recovered my health. In the last year I think I accidentally overdid it kicking sleep out in September and possibly affecting thyroid which I have just recently discovered is showing low t3&4. I have found a private doc who thinks he can help on that front.

I'm just wondering if others have sleep issues. If you've got anxious & low about it and if you've found any ways to deal with it. I know the anxiety makes sleep worse and both won't help my thyroid.

Hope, inspiration, words of wisdom appreciated.

Thank you

Jo

If you are hypothyroid then low vitamins are also common

Low vitamin D and low B vitamins can affect sleep

But low FT3 can also affect sleep too

With pituitary issues You could be looking at central hypothyroidism, so it's especially important to consider the whole picture

Low FT3 and low FT4 should cause TSH to rise. In central hypothyroidism TSH does not respond

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common.

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
