Weight Loss Expectations

Having gained around 2 stone in the past year, and a blood test away from being diagnosed as hypothyroid. I'd like to manage my expectation as to weight loss when treatment begins. Some background is that I eat a very healthy diet and walk around 3 miles each day. I have the occasional treat like everyone else. When I was younger I was pretty chunky (through my own diet and laziness) and swapping to my healthy diet and exercise provide fruitful and I lost around 3 stone. I feel particularly bloated and I've heard that the medication can help to reduce water weight. Has anyone had any success losing weight after being diagnosed? I appreciate everyone will respond differently but I'd like to be a bit hopeful that i won't be this big forever. It's really difficult having to buy new bigger clothes despite having such a healthy lifestyle, although over the past 8 weeks I've found I've really been struggling with my usual 3 mile walk.

I was overweight before diagnosis of hypothyroidism. I think at my heaviest I was about 13 stone. Once optimally medicated on Levo I went back to my usual weight of about 9 and 1/2 stone.

That was over 40 years ago. I am just over a stone heavier now but I am a lot older, and became unwell again on Levo only.

Many people do well on Levo and lose weight when they are eventually optimally medicated. A few people find they put on weight with Levo.
