How long would it take to feel a difference in change of Levothroxine brand? I was experiencing side effects on Teva and therefore changed 6 days ago. I actually feel worse now. Is the Teva still in my system or does the new brand not suit?
Change of Levothroxine brand: How long would it... - Thyroid UK
Change of Levothroxine brand
It took me 2 years to find the thyroxine I was happy with! Did you just experience side effects on Teva? Are you sure you are taking the right dose? My first five years on thyroxine I fluctuated dramatically with my doses. Look up reviews in Teva Thyroxine. Good Luck. don't give up.
what side effects did you get on teva and how do u feel now?
Changing brands of thyroid meds is like going right back to the beginning of finding your critical dose of the right medication. It takes a very long time. I had to change brands of Levo after a very good one "shut down" - their contract to manufacture ran out. It took me two years and I tried all brands, the cheap, the expensive, the reasonable. At the same time my first, good GP retired and I had to revert to my (stupid) Endo. Between not being able to find the right brand and this TSH myopic Endo I almost died. I began reading up on all things Thyroid and went manic on it for about six months, getting my own private blood tests and finally understanding my own self health-wise. I got rid of the Endo and found one who would prescribe me NDT and I have been in that happy state now for about five years.
So I guess, in conclusion, do not be surprised if you have a difficult time finding a brand of Levo which suits you, you also have the factor that you have the dose sloshing around out there. It is not an easy problem to solve but you will get there eventually.
I also have learnt the hard way of accepting what I was given when picking up Levo from chemist only to find with Levo I kept getting odd headaches and generally not feeling right. I decided to go back to my original Levo brand which I am now able to get from another Pharmacist .....Don't be afraid to walk away from what you get given and look for a Pharmacist that can get hold of the brand that suits you. 15 years it has taken me to get to grips with this condition and learn to stick up for what is right for me. You too will do the same...Wishing you all the best.
