Hello

Hope everyone is well I’m after some advice and hoping Someone can tell me what they think might be going on..

I feel like I’m swinging from hypo to hyper but it’s been really bad this week more so than normal

This has been going on for sometime I mainly feel hypo but do occasionally get shortness of breath heart palps anxiety nervousness etc and it’s mainly at night in the middle of the night in bed I will wake up feeling like I can’t breath sweating heart racing shaking violently etc but then it calms after a few mins my husband will say I’m having a manic attack this has happened now on occasions since I started taking thyroxine 18 months ago

This week my issue started at the weekend where I’ve had really loose stools (sorry) I am on metformin for pcos so I assumed it was this

I do suffer from IBS and I have been terribly bloated gasy etc all week and felt so tired this week really low no energy no appetite cold hands feet and feeling very cold pins and needles in waking very hypo symptoms...

Last night completely the opposite I felt manic shaky anxious nervous really hungry blood pressure was through the roof 190/120...it’s usually normal.. heart was over 100 too internal tremors feeling hot etc and just not right I also have a feeling like something is stuck in my throat it’s like I can actually feel my thyroid being attacked But after a few mins these feeling go away

My gp thinks it’s anxiety disorder and thinks I need to reduce back down to 125 which I felt awful on

My last bloods in jan the tsh was surpressed but my t4 was still in range at 21 with a top range of 26

I’ve asked her to refer me to an endo which she has agreed to do

Could this be hashitoxcicosis?

I’ve asked for t4,t3 and antibodies to be tested tomorrow

My antibodies were raised last year when I was first diagnosed but not massively high I think 85 so they confirmed it was hashimotos

Is this normal to feel hypo but then hyper at the same time?

I’ve improved over time but still not right I still don’t feel like I have as much energy as I used to have no pleasure in things feel very mundane etc and I still maintain I’m under medicated and then I will get these occasions where I feel very low followed by a high but not a nice high! I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack or something bad

I want to go prepared to the endo so what do people recommend I ask them to check? Could this be adrenal? Gluten?

I’m not menopausal but confirmed with Polycystic ovarian syndrome

Thanks for reading x

You mentioned gluten have you gone gluten free yet? If not you really must 100% and no cheating. Anxiety can be a result of being under medicated I too get these middle of the night anxiety attacks and they’re awful. The feeling of desperate in your throat means your thyroid is struggling I too have had this. It may be time to get your T3 tested. If your Endo refuses pay privately

Thank you yes I do think it’s because of my thyroid I’m anxious :/

I am having my t3 tester today so will see what that says

What were your results for FT3 - B12 & Folate you were having tested ? How are your VitD levels ? Sorry if I have missed them ... 😊

Hello

It was 4.8 with a reference range of 2.8 to 7.2

My folate was low at 3.2 which the gp didn’t pick up as low as it just scrapped in range so I’ve started supplementing that my b12 was well above at 412

They didn’t do vitamin d but I supplement that too just in case!

I’ve started on a trial of t3 since last week

I’ve dropped my Levo down from 125/150 to 100 and added in 20 thybon henning

I can’t say I really feel any different atm but I’m hopeful and it’s only been since last Thursday x

Your B12 would be good above 500 and towards the top of the range. This was mentioned in the book - Could it Be B12 ? - by Sally Pacholok. There is a video on YouTube of the same title - a film was made to ensure the message reaches people. A result below 500 can result in neurological symptoms which left under or untreated can result in permanent damage.

How much VitD are you taking ? Dosing is usually according to the results. Also taking Magnesium and VitK2-MK7 is suggested when taking VitD ...

Are you taking Folic Acid - or Methylfolate ?

20mcg is quite a large starting dose for T3. It is often suggested here on the forum that taking a quarter of a pill twice a day for a week or two and then increase slowly.

Testing VitD can be done through the post via City Assays in Birmingham - website of the same name :-)

Don't forget that you need to take extra B12 with metformin. Not having enough B12 will make Hashis symptoms worse. verywellhealth.com/metformi...

Hi there,

I have had pre-diabetes and thankfully it has not fully developed into type II as I seriously upped my Magnesium intake (see link at bottom). In the past I did have many symptoms of PCOS as well as a diagnosis of IBS, but the former was too mild for a proper diagnosis back in those days. A lot of your symptoms don't sound as much thyroid'y as they do Magnesium / b12 / vit d deficient with flaky adrenals due to possible poor conversion to t3.... and definitely not hyperthyroid.

Read Dr Myhill's website to help you with your thyroid / adrenal / stomach acid issues and Dr Carolyn Dean and other Magnesium Support Groups to help you understand the Magnesium deficiency symptoms which you may not have recognised as Magnesium deficiency.
