My NDT & T3 supplier shut down due to US FDA investigation. FFS!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this but the website is closed so I don't see why not, also I've redacted it.

The email I got:

My dear friends,

I'm writing to you today to quickly explain why the decision to take ******************************** down has been made.

1. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is actively investigating sales that are in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). Introduction of such products as desiccated thyroid into interstate commerce, including importation into the United States, is prohibited under sections 301(a) and 301(d) of the Act.

2. The above violation only applies to marketing the product to the US customers at the moment. However, FDA's OCI maintains an ongoing liaison with numerous government agencies in other countries.

3. Without going into details, I have reasons to believe that active investigations are being made specifically on desiccated thyroid and T3 from overseas.

As many of you may already know, I had a total thyroidectomy at a young age due to papillary cancer. I actively was seeking treatment that would give me my life back, and when I finally did I wanted to provide that opportunity to everyone in need along with information I possibly could supply on the topic. It saddens me that I had to shut it down, but to protect your information as well as mine I had to make this hard decision.

Although the website is offline, I want to ensure that:

1. All orders made were shipped out and tracking numbers were provided. If you made a payment, the item(s) is on its way to you.

2. All supplies are still available to previously established clients like you. Please email me if you would like to place an order. We will need to keep this strictly offline.

3. I will still be available to answer any questions you may have.

Lastly, I want to thank you for your ongoing support to keep this site going. It has been a pleasure serving and assisting you.

With appreciation,

***

I don't get it. If someone in Thailand wants to send NDT to someone in the UK, what's it got to do with the FDA? How can the FDA have control over it?

Limbolass profile image

Because America rules the world.

StitchFairy profile image
StitchFairy in reply toLimbolass

No, America might want to rule the world, but in fact it does not. If we in the UK are allowed to import medicines for ourselves, the FDA cannot stop that.

It's a real shame that your Thai supplier is allowing the FDA to have such control over what he does. Although I understand from that email he's only removing the website and not stopping supplying altogether.

They cannot stop it coming here but our Government could as is happening in the US. I hope it does not come to that.

Given that people are denied medications on the NHS due to cost, it wouldn't make sense for our government to stop us getting meds for ourselves. And I'm not just talking about thyroid meds. There are many other meds that people have to source for themselves because they're too expensive for the NHS to supply.

Sadly, if a source is closed due to FDA intervention, they close it for all. Even if the vendors do not supply the US, that doesn't mean they will be left alone. The pressure is also intra governmental, and that's where the power of the US really lies. So it's bad news for us in the U.K. too.

I received the same message too.

Yes, I got the same e-mail. ... Big Pharma here owns the FDA. ... Total insanity to stop the supply of an item that is keeping thousands of people functional.

I would also be very grateful to find a reliable source of NDT. Many thanks.

Yep. Spotted this earlier too. theguardian.com/science/201...

The chances are it will get increasingly difficult to self-source medication that our doctors simply can’t or won’t prescribe.

The seller reactivate the site now. She said she removed the ability for US market to purchase and will see how it goes. I’m just so happy about that!

Well she didn't stop sending to her customers that have ordered before and the FDA confiscated my order. I started a new thread the other day about this and I'm trying to see what I can do about getting my order from the FDA
