Treasury want the public to post ideas for savings in govt.

HI all, This is a really important link to a website that may be able to help our cause. For the sake of a few minutes of time please try and register and put in your thoughts about the poor service we lot get with thyroid issues and the absolute drain of money through the many various meds we get prescribed during the course of actually battling to get a diagnosis and just one drug. And then if that, for example is thyroxin T4 and we cannot convert to T3 so we continue to have the symptoms for whcih we may then still be passed off with other drugs - because they WILL NOT prescribe natural dessicated thyroxin or indeed T3 - we not only get free prescriptions but we are also getting a ruck of other stuff free as well - more money down the drain.

When you go to the site go into search for thyroid and you will already find messages up for free prescriptions etc, some now have comments left regarding the above stuff and it would seem that 'the champions' at the Treasury will be alerted to the fact that some posts have got enormous responses and will wonder why.

Worth a try don't you think! We have to be as pro active as possible or one day we may find ourselves without access to such drugs as T3 if the BTA and RCP have anything to do with it.

Another example - More than £291 million was spent on antidepressants in 2006, including nearly £120 million on SSRIs. Depression, anxiety, memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease all have an association with lower thyroid hormone levels and research has shown that improvement can be achieved with thyroid hormone replacement therapy.

Wow some of those comments made me so mad! Some awful ideas on there too. I'm sick of being labelled as just an overweight, moany person who isn't really ill! I say spend a day in my shoes!

I commented on a few but had to log off for my own sanity in the end :)

Well done EmmaE.

Come on you guys - nothing ventured nothing gained! How many other opps to get through to a govt dept who will actually collate and show to the people that matter, because writing to MPs seems to get diddly squat response and a letter to Mr Lansley or Dept Health will usually result in a standard response letter.

Yes I suppose I am being pushy here but we have to be proactive and it only works if numbers are high - rather than a few - who are usually reagrded as 'moaners'.

The link works fine for me, perhaps you could try again :)

WOW!!!! Check out the number of postings that are on that website now - TPA UK are trying to get as many of the 1750 memers to post - we should all add to it as well - flood the Treasury out - they may just stand up and listen in the right quarters!!!!

Thanks to all so far who have posted or are in the process of doing so.

The site has changed since this was originally posted. I believe it's because there was such a lot of negative and unhelpful, (e.g. racist) stuff being written.

Searching for Thyroid to see what's already been said is no longer an option, but it is still possible to submit your own suggestion.

Yes, sadly everything has disappeared. At one point it was thought that 'the powers that be' had a hand in it - apparently there was a huge response to the thyroid bit - 4.9 out of 5 stars etc.

I suppose that it is back to the drawing board and post again.

Why wipe the whole lot though - why not just all the racist and other offensive stuff? Does seem odd that everything had to go?!
