Thyroid results

Hi all, thanks for accepting me in the group. I’ve been bad with M.E/cfs for 12 years. Found I also had Pots recently. Also recently investigated thyroid and got an endocrinologist to agree to give me 50mcg Levothyroxine as my TSH was 3.6 ( even though still in UK range!) and T4 12.2. I started this three months ago. I have felt massively better, more stamina, able to work a bit, able to walk). I’ve had my thyroid results tested this week and the TSH has gone down to 0.5 and the T4 up only slightly to 13.6. I think I’m correct in thinking that the T4 score could be higher? Has anyone got any advice on what to do next? I don’t think the endo will let me increase the dose as the TSH is now so low? My Vit levels are all good. Any ideas how I can improve still further? Many thanks, x

It doesn't matter what the TSH is, that's not the most important number. If your FT4 is low then you need an increase. But, I can't advise you on that because you haven't put the range. We always need ranges to make sense of the results because they vary from lab to lab. :)

Essential to test TSH, FT4 AND FT3

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you did this test?

Have you had BOTH TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Can you add the actual results and ranges on vitamins

You need BOTH TPO and TG antibodies tested and if both are negative.....an ultrasound scan of thyroid

So request ultrasound scan of thyroid

If in or near London I have details of private scan options. £150.

Send me a private message if you want details

NHS never tests TG antibodies unless TPO antibodies are high

Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies

Are you sure you have had TG antibodies tested
