It depends on the medication as there are various ones. My Endo did not inform me of the possible side effects of the drug Prolia and they can be pretty severe and irreversible though apparently rare. Some are powerful drugs and I would advise you to read up all you can on each. My experience and opinion is that medical people over time become desensitised to side effects and just seem to prescribe without much information given to patients. Information about the causes and best way to treat Osteoporosis seems to be diverse and contradictory. It really is a mine field. Good luck!

bisphosphonates tend to create dense brittle bones that are more likely to fracture in an extreme way - in the same way as glass tends to break when dropped but wood does not, neither of them just break spontaneously. In some people, there is an increased risk of necrosis of the jaw (phossy jaw). See ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
