Good morning all can anyone tell me if they have been having any issues with t3 with the batch numbers 85382 and 85151 from mercury pharma, was Concordia but now calling them selves advanz. There have been yellow cards go in against both of these batches now for not being so effective.

Thank you. X

Yes ......I had MP Liothyronine batch no.85151 issued to me in December '18 and the expiry date on it 26 /02/19 was pointed out to me by the pharmacist.

I abandoned it a week or more ago and switched to a Morningside blister pack I had.

My new prescription is now Morning side. However, that has an expiry date of May 2019,so am going to enquire about supplies at other local pharmacies.

I have a blood test next week so will see what my latest levels are.

I too have not felt so good since Christmas, but had the cough/ cold virus that was circulating locally,so difficult to blame it solely on the MP.No problems with my Levo which has a longer expiry into 2020.

Thank you. If you do feel it could be the t3 please put in a yellow card. Xx

Yes.I think there is definitely something questionable about the strength of MP LIothyronine as why would my Pharmacist draw attention to the date on it ?

Also, the patient leaflet which is tightly wrapped around the pot states not to take after the expiry date.

I've never before had a prescription that expired in the same month of taking it!

I shall be having words about it at my patient review in a few weeks time.

My GP has already indicated that you shouldn't cut pills.......How do you take 10mcgs of a 20 mcg tablet then? .....Please,don't anyone point me in the direction of Teva!!

I've been cutting t3 for 7 years now. There's not really an option other than to cut them if you take less than 20mg. I don't think a lot of people really know what they are doing as its all got so confusing esp once the ccgs were involved, which has now left a lot of confusion for the GPS, endos and pharmacists. Hi there jan61,.........I have just made enquiries at a further two local pharmacies about their supplies of T3.One doesn't stock it,therefore has to be ordered and thus would not know the expiry date before it was delivered.

The other,I had to phone as could not get parked anywhere near it this morning.

Anyway, the pharmacist was most helpful in saying that they too would have to order( only one person takes it)!!!! However,if there was less than three months expiry date, they would send it back.I appreciate that doesn't help about the strength of it though. My pharmacist also says that I am the only one who takes it.!!

So,it would seem that most people are satisfied with Levothyroxine.

Useful to know though! Out of the 4 pharmacies in a 15 mile radius of me, I am the only one taking it. I think a lot of people have already had theirs stopped. I'm still fighting to keep mine but fear I ma lose the battle. Can either of your pharmacies get hold of t3 from morningside I think its called xx

in reply tojan61

Yes,the pharmacy I usually go to.I started on it a week ago when collecting my latest repeat prescription( expiry date May 2019) so at least a month's extra shelf life.I prefer the fact that it is in foil blister packs rather than the MP loose in a pot, though I'm likely to accept either, knowing what the situation is and can appreciate how you feel too.It would be so much simpler to only need T4 Levo !!

I have 3 close neighbours all taking Levothyroxine and leading quite normal lives.

My next Endo appointment is in May so have a while to wait for a good chat with him.

I've been taking 85151 for a couple of months and not noticed them to be noticeably any worse than earlier batches, although I suspect that MP T3 has been gradually getting worse. It's difficult to tell whether it's the meds or my body changing.

I had my bloods done for an endo appointment in a couple of weeks so will ask for the results, and starting on batch 85382 soon so will report back (if I remember).

Yes I agree I think mp has been slowly getting worse. Please put in a yellow card if you feel there is an issue with either batch x

85151 I was taking last week and I didn't find a problem with it.......apparently medications can be good for between 2 to 4 years after their expiry date.

But batch 85382 is effing terrible!

Been sleeping all day on them.

Hi. Yes this is the major one I've had probs with. Do you think you could put in a yellow card about it as the more that go in the more they have to investigate and do something about it x

What's a yellow card?

People should be filling in a purple card and not a yellow one.........purple is for defected medication. Yellow is simply for side effects of generally adequate medication.

They all appear together on the Yellow Card bit of the MHRA website. And it is not always clear to a patient whether the product is defective or they are suffering a side effect.

What's they?

A medication that generally works well for me, and then doesn't, is defective. Although you'll get symptoms, it wouldn't be a side effect, but just a return of hypo symptoms.

"they" - the various reporting options provided by the MHRA, Yellow, Purple, etc., viz:

Side effect to a medicine, vaccine, herbal or homeopathic remedy

Medical device adverse incident

Defective medicine (not of an acceptable quality)

Counterfeit or fake medicine or medical device

Side effect or safety concern for an e-cigarette

I thought I had worded it carefully as "not always clear" to allow that sometimes it will be quite obvious, sometimes not. I have taken at least one medicine which went from being fine to being intolerable - but I am sure it was just having taken it for longer and not the next batch being defective.

This is the link to the yellow card scheme

I picked the defective section and filled that bit in hunni

It was really simple but an absolute must esp with the manufacturers charging a bomb and certain batches being defective.

Let me know how you get on. Xx
