I have taken methyl b complex 1hr before thyroid test and was not fasting. should I do it again

Hi everyone I have mistakenly taken methyl b complex before thyroid test for tsh t4 and t3, antibodies etc. will this have an impact on the test. or should I retake it. i was also not fasting. please advise

Simple answer - yes, retest.

The Biotin in the B Complex will give false results if biotin is used in the assay. We know for definite that Medicheck's lab uses biotin in their testing procedure, we also know that Blue Horizon uses the same labs as Medichecks, other labs we don't know but it's safe to assume that it may be possible so leaving off any supplement containing biotin for 7 days is recommended.

Eating may possibly lower TSH, so if TSH is an important result for you then it's best to fast overnight and drink water only until after the test (TSH is affected by coffee so presumably any caffeine containing drink will do, so water only is recommended).

Thank you, Will wait 7 days and not supplement anything with Biotin and retest.
